Great content maybe defined as unique, relevant and appealing and the content must be updated at regular intervals.
The basic idea is to get the websites crawled as often as possible.
I guess its one of the best and most genuine way as if one has a shopping website, he can add new products that would get the website crawled and obviously new product would also would attract new clients.

If you have written the content keeping SEO in mind, your website would get you on higher on search engines for a while but good content written for potential clients would not only get you up there in search engine results but also good clients and business. It would not attract random traffic by good traffic that actually ended up at your landing page on purpose.
