Social Media Optimisation (SMO) is used to generate publicity through social media platforms and online communities.

Why is this important?

Social Media platforms are quickly becoming the number one place to advertise, why? Simply because the communities already established on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter & YouTube enable a business to interact directly with an established audience. SMO primarily focuses on driving traffic to your website through online communities, with an added benefit of improved search engine rankings if the campaign is done correctly.

Generally speaking, page views don't mean that much unless you're setting up a CPM ad model. In Social Media, you worry a lot about pageviews but many people leave. Don't lose sight of the other things that you can be doing.
