It is not a question of whether you should use tablecloths or table runners as they can go together just as well as they can be used separately. Sometimes using a table runner is a way to set off the tablecloth even more, and sometimes it is a way to show off the table itself, at other times the runner is the item that is on display.

There are no hard set rules, as the use of a table runner is extremely versatile, and can provide as many effects as there are table runners and tables. Regardless on how you use them they always add a touch of elegance, or a bit of interest, or another way to look at the room. You can also use them to dress up a patio table for a summer outdoor meal.

You can have something simple or elaborate, something fun or a formal looking runner, it can be a modern or an old fashion embroidered table runner. Regardless of what you choose, they are never invisible on the table of buffet they cover. Buying a table runner or better yet choosing several table runners so you will able to change often is a lot of fun.
